I saw this girl with her huge pooch in the Parc Jourdan in Aix-en-Provence, and remembered many similar sightings of girls nursing some terrible sorrow being cheered up by a protective dog spirit. The open uncomplicatedness of such a relationship is all the more wonderful seen beside a big dog's potential for mischief and violence. This dog cheers her up always, not only with his affectionate attentions but also with the strong communication of his dog's perspective, and core values refreshingly different from her own.
