My coast-to-coast journey across Canada coincided historically with a new war. This war was in a faraway place called Iraq. The Canadian Prime Minister was a wise man and wanted nothing to do with this war. But some Canadians disagreed and wanted their country to join the fun. So here we see political discourse in action, history as it happened. Above the debaters is the head of a buffalo who, like so many in wars, died of gunshot wounds and therefore testifies to us how power and passion and life can suddenly be brought to an end, to be regretted by some of the survivors. Below the trophy head of proud past violence is a small extract of hellfire, controlled in its place, and across the room is a door which leads to eternal darkness and a cessation of wars and snuffling on the prairies.
Which Canadian is pro-war and which the peacenik, that is a question I leave to you, my fellow mortals, to answer.
